Day 1 Welcome to Guyana

Arrive in Guyana and begin your journey from Cheddi Jagan International Airport to Georgetown, with an introduction to the country and a briefing on the adventure ahead.

Day 2 Explore African Heritage

Explore the stories, traditions, food, and communities that shaped Guyana's African heritage, from historic monuments and villages to local markets, cuisine, herbal traditions, and drumming. Meet a third-generation herbalist and learn traditional uses of Black Sage.

Start early and experience Georgetown through its food, markets, architecture, history, and local culture, beginning with a traditional Guyanese breakfast and ending with lunch prepared by Chef Delven Adams.

Day 4 Essequibo River Adventure

Journey from Georgetown across the Demerara River to the Essequibo River for a full day combining colonial history, river travel, waterfalls, and the colorful riverside town of Bartica.

Highlights

  • Travel to Roed-en-Rust and Fort Zeelandia (Fort Island)
  • Explore historic sites along with the nearby Court of Policy
  • Journey upriver to Kyk-Over-Al, Baracara Falls & Teperu Falls
  • Explore Bartica, the "Gateway to the Interior"

  • Travel by boat and road back to Georgetown

Day 5 Kaieteur & Orinduik Falls

Fly into Guyana's spectacular interior for an unforgettable day at Kaieteur and Orinduik Falls, combining dramatic landscapes, rare wildlife, indigenous heritage, and time to enjoy the refreshing waters of Orinduik on the Brazilian border.

  • Transfer for a scenic flight to Kaieteur and Orinduik Falls
  • Be on the lookout for the tiny Golden Rocket Frog
  • Catch a glimpse of the rarely seen Guianan Cock-of-the-Rock

Day 6 Mahaica River Adventure

Set out before sunrise for a peaceful journey along the Mahaica River in search of Guyana's extraordinary national bird, the Hoatzin, along with other wildlife of the coastal wetlands.

  • Sunrise upstream boat ride along the Mahaica River

Day 7 Linden (Bauxite Mining Town)

Discover Linden, the 2nd largest city in Guyana, through its mining history, remarkable landscapes, local culture, cuisine, and the communities that grew around one of Guyana's most important industrial centers.

Day 8 Depart Guyana
